The International Organization for Human Rights Launches the “Nafas” Campaign in Response to the Latakia Wildfires.

The International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs, headed by Dr. Majed Al-Rukabi, High Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa, announced the launch of an urgent humanitarian campaign entitled “Nafas – Your Right to Life”, in cooperation with the International Aviation Services Organization (IASO), chaired by Dr. Munir Khalifa.

This campaign comes in response to the environmental and humanitarian disasters resulting from the catastrophic wildfires that have broken out across vast areas of rural Latakia and the Syrian coast, threatening the lives and safety of thousands of civilians.

The “Nafas” campaign aims to:

  • Support firefighting and rescue teams who are making great efforts to contain the fires despite difficult terrain and limited resources.

  • Provide urgent humanitarian assistance to families affected and displaced from dangerous areas.

  • Distribute essential relief materials, including water, food, medicine, and temporary shelter.

  • Conduct awareness campaigns to protect residents from the effects of fires and the health risks caused by heavy smoke.

  • Honor volunteers and field workers in recognition of their heroic efforts to save lives and combat the fires.

In his official statement, Dr. Majed Al-Rukabi affirmed that the International Organization for Human Rights and Refugee Affairs has mobilized its field teams and opened volunteer registration as part of an organized plan whose details will be announced soon, emphasizing that “the right to life is a sacred human right, and every breath we save is a step towards hope.”

Dr. Munir Khalifa, President of IASO, also indicated his organization’s full commitment to providing everything necessary to support firefighting and rescue operations, including ensuring the aerial delivery of aid if required.

The organization concluded its statement with an urgent appeal to all international and humanitarian agencies and donor institutions to participate in this campaign, stressing that solidarity today is a lifeline to save thousands of lives and support the resilience of families in the face of this disaster.
